Heat pumps, from the first look at your building to service

Air-to-water heat pumps
An outdoor unit takes heat from the outside air and passes it to the water in your radiators or underfloor heating, and to the hot water cylinder. It is the most common choice for houses, both new and existing.

Ground-source heat pumps
Pipes laid in the garden or placed in a borehole collect heat from the ground. The system needs ground works and some planning, so we look at the plot together with the building.

Hot water heat pumps
A compact heat pump with its own cylinder that heats domestic hot water only. It suits homes that keep their present heating but want to heat water with a heat pump.

Installation
We place the outdoor and indoor units, connect them to the heating and hot water system, start the heat pump and set it up for the building. At handover we show you how to use it.

Service and maintenance
Regular checks keep a heat pump running as it should. We service the systems we install and can look at an existing heat pump if it needs attention.

What we look at
Before we make an offer
A heat pump works best when it is chosen for the building it heats. Before we propose anything, we go through a few simple questions with you.
-
The building
Type and size of the building, its insulation and windows, and the rooms you want to heat.
-
Present heating
What heats the building today and how the heat reaches the rooms: radiators, underfloor heating or both.
-
Hot water
How many people use hot water and how it is heated now, so the cylinder and the heat pump suit the household.
-
Space for the units
Where the outdoor unit and the indoor equipment can stand, and how the pipes and cables can run between them.
Warm rooms in every season

A heat pump for a new house or an existing one
In a new house the heat pump is planned together with the heating system from the start. In an existing building it usually replaces an older boiler and works with the radiators or underfloor heating already there, sometimes after small changes. We look at each case on its own.
Ask about your building
How it works
Heat from the air or the ground, moved into your home
A heat pump collects low-temperature heat from the outside air or from the ground, raises its temperature with a compressor and passes it to the heating water for radiators, underfloor heating and the hot water cylinder. Many units can also run in reverse and cool the rooms in warm weather.
